If your mind won’t slow down, you keep overthinking your decisions, or you feel stuck in patterns you can’t break, you’re not alone. Many people come to therapy feeling overwhelmed or frustrated that they understand what’s wrong—but still can’t seem to change it. I help you get to the root of those patterns so real change can happen. Instead of just managing symptoms, we work on understanding what’s driving them—so you can feel more in control, less reactive, and more confident in how you respond to your life.
I strive to create a warm, nurturing, nonjudgmental space that is inclusive and collaborative, allowing us to explore your thoughts and feelings at your own pace. Using evidence-based approaches as well as humor and compassion, my goal is to partner with my clients to empower to help them to confidently navigate life’s challenges. Together we will explore stressors, limiting beliefs, and past trauma that may be impeding you from reaching your full potential, while also exploring your unique strengths and abilities. My 19 years of experience working in the school system, as a school counselor, is very helpful when I'm working with teens.
I am a Licensed Psychologist in Texas and a Nationally Certified School Psychologist who specializes in treating children, adolescents, and adults with social-emotional, behavioral, and educational needs. I received my Ph.D. in School Psychology from New York University in 2008 and completed an APA-approved clinical psychology internship at the Devereux Foundation in Pennsylvania. I have received training in both private and public school settings, outpatient settings, hospitals, and in specialized educational programs for children and adolescents with emotional, behavioral, and developmental needs. I participated in a Family and Multicultural Therapy program for two years at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City where I received supervised family therapy and multicultural competency-based training. In addition to my clinical work, I am an Assistant Professor in the School Psychology Program at Texas State University. My research seeks to understand and promote diversity and inclusion in educational settings. I am particularly interested in studying the development of and consequences associated with children’s social (e.g., gender stereotypes) and academic (e.g., growth mindset) cognitions. My research also involves developing and evaluating interventions to promote positive social and academic outcomes.
