Hi, My name is Dr. Marian Mikhail [Doctorate of Min., L.C.P.C. Advanced , PhD Clinical Pastoral Counseling, M.Div., LCMHC, LPC, M.A. Rel. Ed.]. I am a licensed therapist in New York, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey with 5 years of professional work experience. I have experience in helping clients with stress and anxiety, coping with grief and loss, motivation, self esteem, and confidence, & career difficulties. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion.
Hello! Clients often describe me as easy to talk to, down to earth and compassionate. My natural positive energy helps my clients improve their lives by developing better cognitive and emotional skills.
To listen to another person's story and be a part of the process of their progress is my mission. I have always been curious about human interactions and the story that someone tells. As a psychotherapist, I see that working with the human psyche in the Western world can present challenges. A place where "wellness" is fostered with approaches that seek to eliminate undesired behaviors and thought patterns. Instead I work in a way that welcomes all aspects of you and and your personality. I bring a compassionate and curious approach to facilitating your journey toward understanding yourself more deeply and moving toward change.
I have been working in the mental health and substance abuse field for 10 years. I received my degree in counseling from Monmouth University and completed my field work in a growing substance abuse facility. In my time in this field I have learned ways to approach certain issues with a sense of assertiveness while also being able to provide understanding and validation to my clients.
My path to psychotherapy is anything but conventional. I began my career as a scientist and then a high school science teacher, where a deep curiosity about the world took root. But it was the human connection, the conversations, the stories, that truly lit me up. That led me to Columbia University, where I earned my Master's in Social Work and gained invaluable clinical experience at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. After graduation, I worked in hospice care, walking alongside families through some of life's most profound and challenging moments, an experience that gave me a deep respect for human resilience and the power of being truly heard. After welcoming my three children, I took everything I had learned and channelled it into opening my own private practice. Today, that is where my heart lives. I am endlessly inspired by the people I get to meet, the life stories they share, and the privilege of watching them grow. Whatever has brought you here, I would love to hear your story too.
I am a warm and empathic therapist with over 25 years experience. I work with individuals and families to address a variety of issues including depression, anxiety , bipolar disorder, life transitions, sexuality, grief and loss, and substance abuse.
Welcome! I specialize in evidence-based treatment for anxiety disorders, ADHD, Autism, trauma-related concerns, grief, and life transitions. I work with clients across the lifespan, including children, adolescents, adults, first responders, veterans, and families seeking structured support and meaningful change.
I use compassion, warmth, and a touch of humor to help clients feel safe, understood, and at ease during our work together. I also strive to create a supportive environment where clients can explore challenges without judgment and reconnect with their strengths.
Therapeutically, I draw from cognitive behavioral therapy, trauma-informed practices, psychodynamic approaches, DBT skills, mindfulness, and strengths-based coaching to support clarity, healing, and growth at each client’s pace.
Inspired by the Tibetan Buddhist concept of the Four Immeasurables—happiness, joy, compassion, and equanimity—my practice reflects a commitment to cultivating emotional resilience and deeper wellbeing in everyday life.
Whether you're seeking support through stress, trauma, neurodivergence, identity development, or life transitions, my role is to walk with you, guide you, and help you discover meaningful change from the inside out.
