Michelle Jervis is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and the founder and CEO of Beyond Counseling LCSW, PC. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Herbert H. Lehman College in the Bronx and went on to complete her Master’s degree in Social Work at the Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College.
Michelle is a proud member of the National Association of Black Social Workers and Clinicians of Color in Private Practice. With a deep commitment to mental health advocacy, she has organized numerous community events aimed at increasing awareness around mental health and holistic wellness, particularly in underserved communities.
In addition to her clinical work, Michelle is the founder of Girls Mentor Girls, a nonprofit organization established in 2019 that empowers young women through mentorship, education, and community engagement. She remains an active presence at local events and businesses, often accompanied by mentees from the program.
Michelle is also a certified 200-hour yoga practitioner and integrates a holistic approach into her therapeutic practice. Her clinical expertise includes working with individuals experiencing anxiety and depression. She utilizes a range of evidence-based therapeutic modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Person-Centered Therapy, and Compassion-Focused Therapy.
Michelle is passionate about creating a safe, supportive, and judgment-free space for clients to explore, heal, and grow. Her practice emphasizes empowerment, self-awareness, and the integration of mind-body wellness.
I believe that everyone has the ability to heal, mend and grow. I believe that our life’s experiences and environment can add to our everyday stressors. I am cognizant of how our race, gender, religion, socio-economic status and sexual orientation play a role in our lived experiences. I am also aware on how our physical health can affect our mental health.
I specialize in working with adults, of all ages, dealing , anxiety, depression, addiction, adjustment issues, HIV & STI treatment and prevention, LGBTQ+ issues and Latinx issues. I have training in CBT, DBT and Motivational Interviewing.
My goal is to provide you with a warm, safe and therapeutic space to promote self-healing. I aim for you to feel heard, seen, understood, and valued throughout your pain and stressors.
I take a warm, empathetic, and direct approach to working my clients. I believe that people can be incredibly resilient when they put their minds to it. Together, we can tap into your potential to strengthen your competence and tackle your goals. I will fight for you to rid yourself of unhelpful patterns and narrow the gap to the life you desire.
