In my twenties, I studied philosophy and English literature. Prior to becoming a therapist, I worked for 15 years in magazine journalism.
I worked for 6 years in hospice care, first as an interfaith chaplain and then as a bereavement counselor.
I enjoy nature and the arts: music, poetry and painting. I practice Tibetan Buddhism.
I've been married for 30 years and have two adult daughters.
I incorporate emerging evidence-based treatments that support neuro-plasticity and expanded awareness.
Welcome to Heal With Practice! My name is Pourcher and I'm a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. I'm a Bronx, NY, native with a passion for holding space for others. I love reminding people that they are human. We experience various emotions that may sometimes feel difficult navigating alone. I would love to provide you with a therapeutic experience that feels empowering, safe, and exhaling.
It is my belief that each of us has the ability to find our best self. With guidance, insight and a desire to move forward we can obtain optimal emotional, spiritual and mental health. My practice encompasses supportive exploration and accomplishment of one's identified goal(s) with compassion, intuition and an eclectic blend of therapy methods. Much of my work is with individuals who are experiencing issues related to depression, anxiety, self-esteem, trauma and substance abuse. With couples and families the work is focused upon exploring, identifying and addressing issues surrounding poor communication, trust and boundaries.
I am an LCSW and specialize in infertility, anxiety, depression, ADHD, self-confidence, coping skills and stress/anger management, and life transitions. Having had my own journey in building a family, I understand the unexpected challenges (i.e. pregnancy loss, fertility preservation, third-party reproduction and ART), as well as the transition to parenthood. In addition, I provide consultations for intended patents, and evaluations for gestational carriers and egg/sperm donors.
Welcome! My name is Kristina Shamp, LCSW. I'm passionate about helping individuals overcome challenges and create meaningful, lasting change. Throughout the years of working as a therapist, I have primarily focused on substance use concerns. I have also worked with clients struggling with anxiety, depression, negative thought patterns, relationship difficulties, communication challenges, and issues related to self-esteem and self-worth. My goal for every client is to feel supported and understood - especially during times when they may feel alone.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and hold a Master's in Social Work from Roberts Wesleyan College.
